Alfred Smith is a very skilled bowler and I have my own pro shop, I often bowl in leagues and consider myself a true competitor. Losing my eye sight was very challenging for me, but i felt most comfortable on the bowling alley. I nevered considerd nor will i let my friends or family label me as a handicap i have never missed a day from work and i still show people how to drill holes in thier bowling balls, as well as teach others how to bowl. And after bowling against competitors and winning they cant believe im legally blind, i have yet to bowl less than a 190 average. Even though i cant see now i have seen before, and my mind takes me places even a person with sight cant see.
Bowling attracts a remarkable customer base: More than 50 million people, or almost 20% of the country's population, bowled at least once last year. About 5 million of those actively participate in weekly league bowling. By improving their facilities, launching aggressive marketing programs, and adding complementary activities, most bowling centers have redefined themselves as neighborhood "family entertainment centers," which has made them more effective competitors for their customers' entertainment dollar and limited spare time.
My vision is to change the landscape and ideas people have of bowling by developing a fresh and innovative approach to how bowlers are treated and bowling centers are operated and viewed. My love and passion for the sport of bowling is what drives me to continue to develop a product that you the bowler want.
Bowling is a form of rehabilitative therapy. It was determined that it was more than just developing muscle tone from the exercise apparatus positioned above their bed. People whose body image and self-worth were devastated by their condition needed mental and physical therapy to restore a positive quality of life attitude. A difficult challenge, especially when it is realized there is no known cure for paralysis. If every bowling center would set up a time in the day to work with the disabled individuals, it would not only develop a relationship with the disabled and the community it would provide a way for the disabled to feel useful.
Physically, muscle tone was built, cardiovascular circulation improved, hand-eye coordination maintained, hypertension relieved and bladder and bowel functions improved. It was much more than therapy - it was competition - and it was fun!
Bowlers consume more food and beverages on site than participants in any other sport. Bowlers donate far more money to charity than any other group of athletes. The bowling industry spends far more money than any other sport on airlines, hotels, restaurants, and rental cars. My goal is to have a place that provides for the bowlers. We are the number one participating sport, yet ninety nine per cent of bowlers only pay into the industry only to receive a small portion of their invested money back at the end of the season. The banks give them little interest if any, the league gives them a very small portion of their investment back and the bowling centers gives nothing at all for their efforts that keeps them open for the season. They only look for ways to get more money out of them. I want to change that.
We will be a healthy, successful company that is a leader in customer service and that has a loyal customer following. We will start by having forty eight individuals from each state come to our resort the first year and increase that number to ten percent each year thereafter. We would like to have better than eighty five percent of all bowlers that bowl in the USA and golfers to participate in their sport at our resort.
We will be a Hospitality Service company and we have designed and developed the most unique and progressive Combination combining Resort, Hotel, Golf and Bowling under the same roof, providing a place to stay, and with recreation for the entire family.
We will be located at The Pocono's Resort Area in Pennsylvania.

Posted by Meredith Stanfield, 10 December, 2007 02:51:31I have had the pleasure of bowling with Alfred(Al, to those who know him)and the first year our team, which included his wife Jackie, won the league. He is a wonderful person and a great advocate of the sport of bowling. When in his company, you forget that he is legally blind. All who meet him have so much respect for his bowling skills and knowledge of the game. I wish him all the best in his endeavor to create a facility that will give the sport of bowling a new and more family friendly personna.
