Thank you for exploring the OMNI Sports web site.

I'm Johnny Branch, JB to my friends and teammates. My name may not be familiar but my story should be.

Like many college athletes I wanted to make the game I loved, basketball into a career. Deep in my heart I knew I could find a place in the NBA. But the thought of being the 12th man playing on 10-day contracts was unbearable. I was a point guard, and there was no point in collecting splinters on the bench.

In 1992, I made the best decision of my life. I decided to forge a career overseas, where my skills could make my teammates better... and make fans jump out of their seats. I had heard good things about pro ball in Europe, but before I got there I had no idea how passionate the fans were. When you win, you are treated like a king. When you lose, well that¹s a story for another day.

Thirteen seasons and two championship later, I decided to finish my career as a player and move on to a new adventure in sports. OMNI Sports is the next chapter in my life.

Why OMNI? It's a word that means all ways and all places. If that doesn't describe my experience in sports, I don't know what does!

OMNI Sports is more than a celebration of the games we play. This web site looks at the good guys in sports, and the positive aspects of sports culture. At a time when every headline seems to be worse than the one before it, the goal of the OMNI website is to keep fans focused on the great things about sports.

In the media's mad race to trumpet sensational stories, I don¹t believe we hear enough about the good deeds and positive role models in sports. OMNI will tell those stories with insight, depth and humor.

You have my word on that.

My website is necessary because it focuses on the positive leadership qualities of professional athletes. Our youth of today needs guidance on not only how to become a better athlete, but also how to become a better person. There are alot of publications out there that glorify negative information. However OMNI will magnify the beneficial aspects, because sports is a beautiful thing it's the people who corrupt it.
